Learn How to Market Your Content – Part I

Whatever your business, your main product on social media is content. Great content is what grows your audience and drives them to become new customers.
Since getting the content right is so crucial on social media, it only makes sense to treat it as one of the most important goods or services your business offers.
In this two-part blog series, I will share the key steps you must take to market great content that resonates with your social media audience and encourages them to choose you over your competition.
Create separate marketing goals
What are your business goals? What is your overall plan for your business? The best way to begin any content marketing plan is to align your marketing activities with your business goals. That helps ensure the content you create has a clear objective in mind.
One common business goal is to increase awareness, to ensure your business is what comes to mind when people need the goods or services you sell. With the right content, social media is one of the most effective tools for chipping away at that goal.
Identify your audience
Who is your typical customer? Who is your ideal customer? The clearer the picture you have of who you are trying to reach, the easier it is to create content that appeals to them. Some businesses want to attract a demographic that prefers longer videos, where others might be after a group that tends to want pictures and a sense of humour.
Depending on which audience you need, there are a whole host of social media platforms to choose from. If you need to target people who work in a specific industry, LinkedIn is a great choice. If you want to narrow it down by age or location, Facebook is perfect. Twitter is a suitable choice if you want to reach people discussing timely events, such as a news story or commentary.
Choose the right form of content
Once you have a clear goal and know exactly who you want to reach, choosing the right form of content is much easier.
For example, if your goal is to raise awareness of your business and your audience is your local geographic area, then you will want content that has a niche appeal. One of the many effective options is a tutorial video that explains how you use one of the goods you sell or perform a service your business provides to that local area. An engaging client success story such as a video testimonial is another option proven to help businesses achieve this goal.
