Combine Your Website and Social Media

May 15, 2019 by Mark Davey

If you’re like most small businesses, your website and your social media profiles are two separate things. Did you know they don’t have to be that way? There are many deeply integrated ways to combine the two and better engage your audience.

It takes a little effort, but the results are worth it – not only does it keep your website as fresh and current as your social media profiles, but it also shows your small business is current and connected.

Add social media icon links

One of the most basic ways to integrate your website with social media is to add social media icons in the forms of links on your website, referencing your social media pages. Doing this is so mandatory that many website platforms include it as a basic option, just like choosing a website background.

Many websites take it a step further and add blog share buttons. When you add share buttons to your blog, it means users can share your content with their friends – whether it’s a post, picture, or even video. It’s great for driving traffic back to the website!

Use social logins for private areas

Websites that let users log in using their existing social media accounts to private areas of the website are more welcoming and user-friendly than those that require users to create a whole new profile.

Big brands already know this. When you try to interact with the websites of many major brands, you will often be presented with a variety of options – create an account, log in with Facebook, Google, and more. This technology is called Single Sign-on (SSO), It’s not expensive to offer these options and they just might be the convenience that gets you a few extra new customers.

Pull content from social media

Social media feeds are old news. We’ve all visited an outdated website with a social media feed displayed in some corner listing a few tweets from 2016. There are better ways to integrate your social media content into your website.

Imagine logging in and seeing your most recent social media video, or a page background that rotates between recent Instagram pictures? The possibilities are endless.
